While painting in Colorado at Homestake Creek one day, I was struck by the number of dead trees in the area that had been killed by the mountain pine beetles that have swept the area since the late 1990s.
Although initially devastating, insect blights as well as wildfires and even sustainable logging are events that renew and strengthen the health of the forests. Thus, humans must understand, maintain patience, and foster mother nature's master plan.
