Lahaina Burning is one of a series of baskets representing devastating fires. I was fortunate to have visited Lahaina before the fire, which began August 8, 2023, destroying the iconic town in Maui, Hawaii. In addition to the architectural carnage that resulted, businesses were destroyed and lives were devastated. Many now fear that corporate America will invade the town and the authenticity of Lahina will be lost at the expense of the local owners and residents.
