My mother used to say, "I refuse to be unhappy", which I've adopted for my own perspective. Self Portrait with Barbed Wire illustrates my optimistic and sometimes overly idealistic outlook, but with a bit of barbed wire on top.

Cakes have played a significant role in societies and history. Cakes are baked and enjoyed as people come together for weddings, birthdays, funerals, graduations, bon voyage, and childbirth. Cakes vary in heritage, ingredients, expense, and complexity, and are often considered women's work. In literature, popular culture, and in music, cakes are often mentioned, as in "Let them eat cake", and "Who left the cake out in the rain?"
