The loom-woven tapestry uses weft yarns for surface embellishment, resulting in an extremely textured depiction of the hay and the animal's fur. The Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo is a long-standing annual event in my hometown. While viewing the livestock in the exhibition barns, I was struck by the contrast of the animal's fur with its surroundings that were both highlighted by a beam of sunlight. The sound and smell of the animals along with the stimulating visual elements of colors and textures ignited my appreciation for the work of the American cowboys and ranchers.
