Spark Plugs was fabricated using the traditional basketry techniques of coiling and twining. My intent for this piece included the juxtaposition of the soft materials to the rigid manufactured materials present in actual spark plugs. The creation of an oversized  soft version of an everyday object is reminiscent of the soft sculpture of the Swedish Pop artist Claes Oldenburg.
